PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Joanna Schaller joined Wood & Porter in June 2004 as an Office Assistant, and was promoted to Legal Assistant on June 1, 2007. She has experience in various legal related positions including law firm administration, document preparation, factual research, document handling and service, document execution, expert report preparation, etc.

Joanna has done extensive work in the legal publishing area, and she provides support for the publication of the firm's many books and periodicals. She has served as both Production Editor and Executive Editor for CCH’s monthly publication, The M&A Tax Report, which catalogs recent trends and transactions affecting mergers and acquisitions throughout the United States. She has also edited numerous articles for Tax Notes, the Journal of Taxation, Taxation for Accountants, The Tax Adviser, and numerous other trade magazines, bar association and accounting publications, and for several law reviews. She has assisted in editing and proofing successive editions of several legal treatises, and has had a primary role in shaping annual updates to legal and tax law texts.

At Wood & Porter Joanna assists in the various practice areas of the firm, particularly with cite-checking, document management, analysis, drafting, and revising a variety of client-related documents and work. She is particularly effective in occupying a support role with respect to estate planning documentation, corporate and LLC documentation, and the firm’s growing role as trustee’s counsel in qualified settlement funds. These complex litigation settlement vehicles often entail significant administrative duties, which Joanna performs efficiently and thoroughly.
